Yale Pathways to Arts & Humanities

Yale Pathways to Arts & Humanities welcomes local public high school students to Yale’s campus for performances, talks, tours, and seminars in the arts and humanities. One of its cornerstone offerings is New Voices in Theater, a high school playwriting program led by graduate students from the Yale School of Drama.

The Well contributed to New Voices by serving on the teaching team, helping students develop original plays in a collaborative workshop environment. At the program’s conclusion, MFA actors were invited to perform staged readings of each student’s script—allowing them to experience their words lifted off the page in front of peers, families, and faculty.

While some students joined out of curiosity, many arrived with strong voices and a clear sense of purpose. Several have gone on to pursue higher education with playwriting portfolios that began in this program. Select students also had the opportunity to submit their work for public readings sponsored by Yale Pathways and the Yale School of Drama.
